Mentally I didn’t seem to be in the right frame of mind for this marathon and I can’t put my finger on the reason why. I suppose you can’t always be up for every race. Putting the race aside for a moment it was a great day to meet friends I’ve come to know on the marathon circuit of which there were many today. It was great to catch up with them before, during and after the event. As the event included a half marathon I even bumped into Steve from A&T! I spent most of the race, up to 17 miles running with John G from Hull. Nice to see you John and thanks for the company. No thanks though, to the wasp that stung me on the right arm at 17 miles and made me lose a bit of time.
I suppose my finishing time of 3 hours 23 minutes 53 seconds says a lot about where my running is. On a day when I wasn’t focused I still managed, what I consider, a very good time.
