Marathons in February
7th Feb Holly Winter Challenge 3:48:10
8th Feb Grizedale Marathon 4:54:04
21st FebWinter Railway Ultra 3:43:28
Total Mileage for the month 267 miles
It has been a hard month of running in the dark with some very cold winter weather. I do long for some milder spring days and to run in the sunshine. That said I’m very pleased with how February’s training has gone, I hit my target of over 250 miles and managed the 3 marathons planned with the sort of times I had hoped for. Nice to get a double in (2 marathons in 2 days) with the Holly Winter Challenge and Grizedale.
Grizedale was a real toughie stretching the marathon distance to a very hilly 28 miles but with the wonderful scenery, it made the day very rewarding. I would recommend the event to any trail runner. I hope to get back there next year and have another go.
This month my knees have held up well and if anything they seemed to have slightly improved from January even though I have no idea why. I have no other real injuries, just a handful of the expected niggles which keep coming and going.
Into March now and let’s see if I can build further on my monthly mileage and get over 300 miles, I also hope to complete a couple of double marathons which I have planned.
If you have a few pennies going spare and think what I’m doing is worthwhile then please send me a donation to my Just Giving page to help support the Brathay trust and the work they do with disadvantaged young people.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.
