To me the Quadzilla challenge is not just about simply completing all four days, I also want to try and complete all 4 days under 4 hours. Today’s time was 3 hours 55 minutes 14 seconds. So for the time being I’m on track. Yesterday I picked up a bit of a sore right hamstring and I’m afraid after today’s run it’s a bit worse, I will keep messaging it and just have to see how it copes tomorrow.
I went to bed last night with it snowing outside. Over night we had an inch of snow and this morning I looked out of the hotel window to be greeted by a white winter wonderland. I decided to take my camera round with me for the first lap of the lake and hopefully capture a few wintery images of my first marathon in snow. Also this would purposely slow me down to help me warm up over the first 4 miles. There was a bit of a cold breeze today but it was dry and the sun came out for a couple of short spells.
It’s funny how runs at the same place can be different from day to day. Unlike yesterday I hardly ran with anyone, I could have done with my Ipod. I did have a brief chat with a lady call Dion for a couple of laps as we kept overtaking each other, only to find out she wasn’t actually in the race but doing a long training run for her first marathon which is to be Milton Keynes in April! She was running 16 miles and it was her longest run ever. Amazing who you get talking to in a race! She thanked me for helping her along when she pealed off to go home, I still had 2 laps to do.
