I don’t know where to start, what a race! SPECTACULAR and this year with the most glorious weather imaginable, close to 20 degrees and beautiful sunshine. It was great to be running in shorts and a running vest in the Lake District and even having to wear sun cream might I add!
I was amongst some great company too, my family Yuk-Lam, Abbey & Lucas, friends John, Lisa and family, running club friends Mark and Barry. It was also good to see Alison and Alfie for the first time in ages and I’m really sorry to have missed her husband Ian. Also sorry not to see Aly from the Brathay Trust, I believe she saw me run passed. During the start of the race I ran with Penny who is also doing the 10 in 10 this year, nice to see her doing so well. Good luck for London next week Penny.I had a great run. I started off fairly easy thinking I would be tired after the last 9 days heavy training but I felt surprisingly fresh. After about 3 miles, I had to say good bye to John and move up my pace to inside 7 & half minute miles. I ran very steady and strong for the rest of the race. I took on plenty of water at the water stations which I think stood me in good stead and the unusually warm weather didn’t affect me. After the race it was lovely to walk down to the lake with family and friends and have a bit to eat at the Blue Bird cafe and finish off with an ice cream, yum yum!
Me & Mark larking about at the finish of the Coniston 14 Plus.
Cheers to Barry for the fun photo.
