I was up first this morning and time for a longer run. Another super morning for running, cool air with a slight breeze and wall to wall blue sky with bright sunshine. I ran a large loop which took me out of Llanddona village towards Penmon and down to the coast. From my high position on the coast I could see Red Wharf Bay laid out below me with Benllech in the distance. A strange mist was coming in from the sea sliding up the hills and round the base of one of the two masts in the area. After Penmon I picked up a trail which took me through an unspoilt wood full of flowering wild garlic. There was a wonderful aroma from the garlic. I emerged at Llangoed and went along the coastal road to Beaumaris, a picturesque seaside town with a wonderful castle ruin. On from Beaumaris I had my steepest climb up through another wood with a carpet of bluebells and back into the gorgeous Welsh country side with its stunning yellow gauze bushes. The next 3 to 4 miles back to Llanddona tested me with an unending succession of hills.
I finished the 13 miles in 1 hour 50 minutes and 55 seconds, 8 minutes 32 seconds per mile. I was very pleased and privileged to be able to run through such fantastic scenery in perfect running weather, I couldn’t have asked for more.
