Its the week before the Fleetwood marathon so any self respecting normal marathon runner would be taking it easy before the big day and this was something I used to do. Well not any more. It’s no good resting before a marathon if you wish to run marathons on consecutive days.
On Wednesday I ran 12.5 miles, Thursday I ran a hilly 12 miles in Anglesey, Friday a hilly 10 mile off road run with a beach, slippy mud and rocks thrown in for good measure. On Staurday I was actually planning an easy day but it wasn’t to be.
At this point I feel I should mention we (this is me, Yuk-Lam, Abbey & Lucas) had gone to Anglesey for a long weekend with Yuk-Wah (Yuk-Lam’s sister, if you couldn’t guess, her boy friend Andy and his daughter Pip). We had also met up with some friends Lisa, John with their children Amelia and Reagan. What a troop! We went for a walk from Llanberis up Snowdon. The ladies and children got about three quarters of a mile up when we stopped for a sandwich and then they went back down while me, John & Andy thought we would go a bit further.
Several times I would say, just tell me if you want to go back guys and Andy would reply lets just see whats over the next rise. This went on several times, I think it was a bit of a macho thing, none of us wanted to seem like they had had enough. Well we almost go half way up before we agreed that we should descend and rejoin the rest of our families.
It was quite windy up there and then the rain came at us side ways, it give us quite a drenching. We managed a quick couple of photos without getting the camera too wet.

There that’s how to taper for a marathon, now I’m all ready for tomorrow.
