An Ultra Drive to Taunton Marathon

Taunton Marathon 3rd April 2011

The Taunton Marathon is a 2 lap, fairly flat and fast road course. The weather was mild about 10 degrees, little wind and very bright. During the latter stages the sun came out and started to really warm things up. Just finished before the heavens opened and we got a heavy April shower. I was very pleased with my run, which I ended up running harder and faster than I planned, with even splits. My time was 3 hours 28 mins 25 seconds.

When I finished the race I jogged to the sports hall to collect my running bag. I noticed the other finishers wearing medals, Ooops, I hadn’t collected mine when I finished. I jogged back to the finish where I found the tent where a lovely old lady kindly gave me a medal. It still nearly went wrong as I read the medal it said HALF marathon so she kindly changed it for a full marathon medal. I’m glad I noticed that before I had driven home!

I’m not sure which was the greatest feet the 215 mile drive each way or my best marathon time for 12 months 3 hours 28 minutes 25 secs with no taper.
