Weird

Post 10in10 is a bit weird. My plan was to give my body a rest after the 10in10. For the first couple of weeks I definitely did while the sore ankles and muscles recovered but 9 days after the 10in10 I nipped out to do the Liverbird marathon without any problem. Since this initial period I’ve gone back to running for enjoyment and without any real purpose. I’ve been trying to take running easy and still fine myself clocking up 40 & 50 mile weeks. I’ve done the Coniston Trail marathon early July which was hilly, hard and hot. Again this was no problem apart from some immediate dehydration.

It’s weird how I feel like I’m taking it easy but a couple of years ago this would have been hard high mileage weeks for me. Should I be looking at reducing my mileage? Or should I be looking at picking it up again to prepare for the autumn marathons? Probably a couple of long runs before the Gin Pit Trail marathon and then the marathons will be my training.

I’m finding myself dying to do more marathons. I can’t wait for the autumn’s run of marathons to come. It is like I’m wishing away our forth coming holiday to Disney Land in Paris and the summer (albeit rather wet!).

Patience Malc, enjoy the summer, marathon’s will return. At least arranging the Gin Pit Trail marathon on August Bank Holiday is giving my mind some kind of focus away from waiting for races.
