This was a bit of a roller coaster day for me. I really fancied seeing the Olympic Torch especially as it was to pass the road in front of my works. So I hoped I could get finished in time to do so. I managed it and eagerly awaited at the side of the road for the torch and it’s convoy to come passed.
How disappointed I was when it eventually came only to miss seeing it, as it was driven passed in it’s bus.
I wondered off back to my office and my desk to notice I had a missed call from Yuk-Lam so I rang her back. She told me that it was live on the telly and the torch was now in Hindley, out of the coach and being carried along the street. I put the phone down and rapidly locked up the office. I was already in my running gear, ready for a run home so legged it down the street after the torch. I weaved through the crowds, traffic and police in Hindley and after a mile and a half caught up with the torch and it’s wheel chair bearer.
My heart was pounding I thought I had missed my opportunity to see the torch but now it was there in front of me. I was so pleased, it had been worth all the effort. I jogged along with the torch, through the rest of Hindley, enjoying this very special once in a life time event and randomly took photos. I left to go home when the flame was returned to it’s lantern and put back on the coach at the out skirts of Hindley.
