Brathay 10in10, Day 3

Weather
Not as bad as yesterday but not much better! At least it started dry but it only lasted for about 6miles before it starting to rain. From half way on it was pretty heavy. A bit more wind than yesterday and I think, slightly cooler.

To keep the day fun I thought I would wear my Union Jack running shorts and Buff. They certainly ended up being the brightest part of the day considering the dull depressing wet weather. After yesterday’s erratic running a much more steady paced run was the plan for today. The first half went well, steady and with about the sort of time I was hoping for, 1 hour 54 minutes. My sore left calf eased and I ran slightly faster the second half doing another one of my negative splits by 4 minutes. So I was pleased with my steady paced run and even more pleased to come in 2nd as several others had a slower day.

The left calf is still a bit sore but seems no worse so hopefully it won’t hinder me for the rest of the event.

It’s nice having strangers cheering you on, as they walk or drive past. Today a biker coming towards me had one of his hands off his handle bars giving me the thumbs up and screaming at me from inside his helmet and behind his visor. I had no idea what he was saying but it was great and made me laugh.

Today’s Highlight
I have 2 today!
At the start as I came out onto the front lawn at Brathay Hall I was greeted by Suzanne, Dave and their dog Bob from my running club “Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners”. Thanks for coming Guys, great to see your friendly faces!
The 2nd was Abbey giving me a couple of pieces of fudge at Bowness, totally yummy!

Today’s Low Point
Nothing particularly bad happened today but the weather was horrible so I think that gets the “Low Point” award today.
