April Training 2015

Smile-for-the-cameraMarathons in April:

Greater Manchester 3:06:50

London 3:13:55

Total mileage for the month 203.17

After the past 3 months of high mileage running through the cold, dark winter months, April’s training has felt much more palatable. The mornings and evenings are now light and the weather is getting mild so it isn’t so much a chore to put on my trainers and go for a run. On top of this April is my last month of training for May’s 10in10 and as such also the start of my taper.

This month’s mileage is down from March which was the plan so I’ve not had to same pressure on me to fit in the miles and in fact after running so much 203 miles through April has somehow felt like a breeze.

It was also the plan to run less marathons in April and with only two fairly flat road marathons and slightly fresher legs it showed in the times. Even I was amazed by my time at Manchester I was hoping for something between 3:15 & 3:30 but 3:06:50 was completely unexpected and what’s more I felt fairly comfortable at the pace. The time was only 47 seconds off my all time PB from Chicago which has stood for some 15 years. Maybe after the 10in10 I should consider having a go at cracking my PB which for many years I had believed was my limit. Maybe my mind believing this was my only limit and not my ability?

So another month is gone and the last for 10in10 training and I’m pleased to report still everything is going to plan. I keep wondering when something is going to go wrong. I picked up a bit of a niggle in my left calf and Achilles from London but should have plenty of time for it to heel before Brathay.

My fund raising has passed the £6000.00 mark and I’m hoping I’ll get it to my target of £7000.00. If you feel you can send me a contribution to help me reach my target please follow the link below to my JustGiving site.
